Michael Vick(notes) could face a troubling credibility issue if the video surveillance tape a restaurant has turned over to police shows the quarterback and his posse leaving only minutes before Quanis Phillips was shot last Friday morning outside Vick’s 30th birthday party.

Allen Fabijan, a spokesman for Guadalajara, the Virginia Beach, Va., establishment the party was at, said that video shows Vick “and his entourage” leaving at 2:07 a.m. Three minutes later, the tape shows a crowd ducking as shots rang out and Phillips, a co-defendant in Vick’s federal dogfighting trial, was hit in the leg.

“You can see everybody duck at 2:10,” Fabijan told the Hampton Roads Daily News. “I'm not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting. But he did not leave (long) before.”

Vick’s attorney Larry Woodward has maintained that Vick was long gone before the shooting. It was reported that Vick left the party 30 minutes before the shooting. Since, that figure seems to have shrunk in various reports.

“I stand by what I said, that Michael was long gone before the shooting, does not know who did the shooting and had nothing to do with the shooting," Woodward told the Daily News. “Anyone who says any different better be very careful.”

That would seem to be a not-so veiled threat at a slander lawsuit. Woodward doesn’t need his word or Vick’s word if useable video surveillance exists. Police, who have said that Vick isn’t a person of interest, should be able to tell when Vick exited and when Phillips was wounded. But if Vick has lied to police that certainly could lead to trouble with him when it comes to probation, and commissioner Roger Goodell has him on a short leash, so to speak. Fabijan also disputed reports that Phillips was led out of the party.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White(notes), who attended the bash, vouched for Vick and said the two left long before the shooting. As Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution points out, White might want to make sure his story parallels the truth if and when the NFL comes knocking on his door looking for information. Otherwise, he could land himself in some unintended trouble trying to stick up for a guy who just can’t seem to stay out of it.

There are a lot of Atlanta Falcons fans who still love Michael Vick (notes), and will always love Michael Vick. Why this is so, I'm not entirely sure, because it seems like with each passing day, Michael Vick makes a new effort to let the people at Atlanta know that he played them for chumps, every single step of the way.

First, while he was supposed to be saving the franchise and leading them to the promised land, he was also busy unleashing a holy war on the puppies of the area.

That's a crime, of course, and it cost him a good portion of his football career and ended his stay with the Falcons. If you want to stick by Vick's side through that, that's fine. I get it. He's a man, he made a mistake, and he deserves forgiveness. As long as he's dedicated to the home team, we can forgive a human foible and move on, right?

Well, what if, at the same time, he didn't give a damn about the home team, either?

Vick told 790 AM The Zone in Atlanta that while he played for the Falcons, he wasn't giving 100%. Now, I'm sure a lot of people already had a hunch that Vick didn't get the most out of his abilities, but hearing him admit is another thing. Vick openly admits that he wasn't anywhere near the quarterback he should have been. From AJC.com:

"There was a lot more I could have done off the field and in the film room that could have elevated my game to a different level," Vick said. "I was complacent at the time, somewhat lazy, and I settled for mediocrity. I thought what I was doing was enough."

Now, there are a real crimes, and there are crimes against sports. Obviously, real crimes are worse.

But crimes against sports can be funny things. In a way, they're a bigger betrayal, because when we care so much and invest so much energy in our favorite players in teams, it can hurt to know that they didn't care even as much as you did.

Take Pete Rose, for example. His major offense in life was a crime against sports. He bet on baseball. Yet, he's barred from the game, he's become a joke and he's basically a sports pariah. And yet, how many wife beaters and guys with multiple DUIs -- real crimes that are clearly worse -- take the field with no real consequences, day in and day out?

This newest Vick crime, the one against sports, is a serious one, because he's gotten some insane amounts of unconditional love from the people of Atlanta, and what did he give them in return? Was he a model citizen and pillar of the community? No. Did he bust his hump to help the Falcons and work hard to be the best player he could be? Nope. He just admitted as much.

It seems like the love in that relationship has only gone one way. They loved Vick, and in return, he took their money, he took their cheers on Sunday, and he spit in their faces. Not just by his off-field activities, but by not caring about the game, either.

PETA Upset With Vick's Courage Award

PHILADELPHIA (AP) --Michael Vick's peers appreciate his tough journey back to the NFL.

Vick won the Ed Block Courage Award, voted on by his teammates on the Philidelphia Eagles, after the once-disgraced star quarterback returned to the league after spending 18 months in a federal prison for his role in a dogfighting ring.

"It means a great deal to me," Vick said Wednesday. "I was voted unanimously by my teammates. They know what I've been through. I've been through a lot. It's been great to come back and have an opportunity to play and be with a great group of guys. I'm just ecstatic about that and I enjoy every day."

A three-time Pro Bowl pick in six seasons with Atlanta, Vick has played sparingly with the Eagles. He has two touchdowns rushing and one passing in 12 games.

The Ed Block Award honors players who exemplify commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Each of the 32 NFL teams selects a recipient.

"I've overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can handle or bear," Vick said. "You ask certain people to walk through my shoes, they probably couldn't do (it). Probably 95 percent of the people in this world because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in, situations I put myself in and decisions I have made, whether they have been good or bad.

"There's always consequences behind certain things and repercussions behind them, too. And then you have to wake up every day and face the world, whether they perceive you in the right perspective, it's a totally different outlook on you. You have to be strong, believe in yourself, be optimistic. That's what I've been able to do. That's what I display."

The Eagles were criticized by animal rights activists for signing Vick less than a month after he was released from prison. Dozens of protesters voiced their outrage outside the team's practice facility the day after Vick was signed, and many fans threatened to give up their tickets.

But Vick got a warm reception in his first game with the Eagles and by most accounts has been a model citizen off the field.

The animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, issued a statement reprimanding the Eagles for giving Vick the award.

"The Philadelphia Eagles fumbled when they gave Michael Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, which was named after a man who advocated in behalf of abused children," the PETA statement read. "Michael Vick should not be the person anyone points to as a model of sportsmanship, even though he has now exchanged dogs for touchdowns after serving time for extreme cruelty to animals. We wish him well in educating others, but this is not appropriate and does not mark a joyous moment in NFL history."

Vick has spent time working with the Humane Society of the United States, speaking to school and community groups about the mistakes he made in getting involved in dogfighting.

"It was a big obstacle proving I'm worthy of a second chance," Vick said. "It doesn't stop here. I have to continue to prove that. I think it's not going to be a day-to-day process, it's going to be a year-in, year-out process. It's a challenge to myself. The thing I told [NFL commissioner] Roger [Goodell] is that four or five years from now, I'm going to come to him and say, 'Everything I told you I was going to do, I'm still doing it.' And that's what I pride myself on and that's my focus and that's my goal."

Quarterback Donavan McNabb called the award "well-deserved."

"Congratulations to him for straightening his life around and bettering himself as a human being," coach Andy Reid said. "He's obviously very well-respected by his teammates."

Who wants to hear my reaction?. well who cares if ya don't. cause here it is. The award is given to one member of every NFL team, this should really piss off the other guys who got this award, they earned it either through intense volunteer work or coming back from major injury. He is evil. and therefore should not get this award. and it just pisses me off that he got it. maybe in ten years when he has proven he changed for real then yeah give it to him. BUT REALLY he basically still has his stripes on for all i care about. GRRRRR and if i see one more person in this area sporting either of his jersey's i might just punch them in the mouth. and the grin he is sporting up above i would LOVE to wipe of his fuckface.

A Shelter Dog's Christmas Poem

‘Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,

every shelter is full - we are lost but not found,

Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,

we hope every minute that someone will care,

They'll come to adopt us and give us the call,"

Dogged determination paid off yesterday when the Cavalier King Charles spaniel trapped in a Sweetmans Creek cave since Sunday was saved.

Rescuers cut down trees, shifted boulders and used search and rescue equipment to free Scooby just before 6pm.

Workers from NSW Mines rescue, SES, NSW Fire Brigades rescue and the RSPCA had desperately tried to free the deaf eight-year-old spaniel since Tuesday afternoon.

After going missing on a walk with his owners, Scooby was silent until Tuesday when he was heard crying inside the cave.

Despite many setbacks, the rescue crew dug in for the long haul yesterday and Scooby's owners camped out overnight, hoping the trapped mutt would leave the cave himself.

"No one's going anywhere until he does," RSPCA inspector, Amanda Lantry said.

Owner Melissa Newton was brought to tears as her son, Jack, carried Scooby down the hill after the rescue.

"It was just so emotional and completely surreal," Mrs Newton said. "We're just forever grateful to the rescue people."

From yesterday morning rescuers tried every entrance to the small clearing where Scooby was stuck but were unable to reach him due to solid rock.

Scooby was physically able to leave the hole but he was disorientated due to lack of food and water and had to be manually retrieved.

Work eventually began moving tons of rock from the roof of the cave with airbags.

Professional driller Steve Henness provided specialist drilling equipment which allowed rescuers to make a new hole and reach the dog.

RSPCA Northern Region Team leader Kylie Prowse said she was relieved Scooby was freed.

"This family has been pining for their pet, just look how happy everyone is," Mrs Prowse said.

"People said we're wasting resources but that's a live animal out there."

The Newtons said the family would revisit the site of Scooby's adventure. "We probably will return to the spot but he will be on a leash," Mrs Newton said.

Scooby was taken to Broadmeadow Veterinary Hospital last night. He has an ulcer on one eyelid, will be on a drip overnight for dehydration and will have blood tests to check if he has inhaled dust.

i am not really sure how i feel about this- vick playing the other night.

i am disgusted about this truly and think i wanted someone to hit him with a career ending blow. but then i feel mad at myself wishing this kind of injury on someone- that makes me no better than this asshole.

and then i get in this moral turmoil about that internally "...hurt him, no don't, yes hurt him, no that makes you no better, i don't care kick him in the teeth..."

BUT thinking on the article AJ sent me here got me really thinking... maybe there can be some good to come out of this. we all know he is a monster, evil, my thoughts on that will never change. he brings up in me the closest thing to hate i have ever possibly felt.

BUT if he stays in the spotlight the issue stays in the spotlight, right? if he fades away then the issue might lessen. Pit Bulls need to be protected and they are the ONLY victim in the stupidity/cruelty of their owners. vick is no exception, he is an 'a' number one ASSHOLE.

Time will tell if he really feels sorrow for what he has done to innocents.

Humane Society could help Michael Vick find redemption

There was Michael Vick, dressed in a brown prison jumpsuit, sitting at a metal table in a crammed courtyard at a federal penitentiary in Kansas.

It was May. Weeks before he would be released after 18 months of confinement for his role in a dogfighting ring that killed and maimed.

Months before this Thursday, when the Philadelphia Eagles surprisingly signed him to a two-year contract.

That day, far from public view, he was seeking something. A measure of forgiveness. A path by which he could make amends. He sought this from a most unlikely source.

"My organization was the architect of one of the key laws that he was charged under," says that source, Wayne Pacelle. "We had provided a key confidential informant and had been active in his prosecution. . . . We had a very harsh view of Michael Vick."

The organization Pacelle directs as chief executive and president? The Humane Society of the United States.

You might hold a similarly negative view of Vick, even now, after he has served his time.

I understand. I'm an animal lover, a cat guy more than anything. My wife and I treat Pablo, our shelter-rescued tabby, like a son. One of my favorite quotations is from Gandhi: "The more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man."

But, as regular readers of this column know, I also believe in redemption. In making amends and helping the contrite. Maybe, for those of us who've been holding an unforgiving view of Vick -- I've long thought he shouldn't be granted the privilege of playing NFL football again -- the story of Pacelle and the quarterback can be instructive.

Pacelle went to Kansas only after sifting through deep inner turmoil. He'd spent much of his adult life working for animal rights. When he'd first received a call from a Vick representative, asking for a dialogue, he was wary and angry. The thought of Vick and what he'd done was so sickening he put off replying for months.

Then he reconsidered. Let's remember what we are, he told himself and those within his organization. "We're devoted to ending dogfighting, not endlessly flogging Michael Vick. We are about not just ending cruelty, but also making people better. . . . This can be about turning adversaries into allies."

Some of his colleagues didn't want him to go. But he did, and he listened. In the courtyard, Vick softly spoke about growing up in a rough part of Virginia. About a subset of the culture there that, ironically and sadly, tolerated treating dogs the way slaves had been treated. He admitted that he first started fighting dogs at age 8 and never stopped until he was an NFL superstar and the police were knocking on the door.

"There was a phrase he used in the press conference in Philadelphia," Pacelle said, referring to Vick's address to the media on Friday. "I heard him use it for the first time that day: He wanted to be part of the solution, not part of the problem."

Pacelle drew a hard line. He wasn't interested in Vick doing a few TV spots and then disappearing. This had to be real. The Humane Society has established what it calls the End Dogfighting Campaign, holding regular training sessions that focus on the widespread abuse of dogs in inner cities. (Go to www.hsus.org "> www.hsus.org for more information.) Pacelle estimates that there are 140,000 fighting dogs in the United States, roughly a third of them bred specifically for aggression.

140,000. An epidemic.

In the courtyard, Vick promised to do whatever Pacelle needed. He vowed to stay true to his word: At least twice a month he would go to the inner city to help the Humane Society spread its gospel. Both men knew how powerful a messenger he could be. The animal-rights movement has never had a spokesman with this kind of credibility among a certain hard swath of urban America.

Pacelle decided to take Vick into the fold. He did it cautiously, still watching to see if there will be any slips. But that old harshness? He cast it aside.

Vick and Pacelle have recently held presentations in churches in Atlanta and Chicago, facing crowds of young men who fight dogs or are tempted to for the money and machismo. Both times, Vick laid heart and soul on the line, according to both Pacelle and Tio Hardiman, a Chicago-based anti-dogfighting advocate who was there.

"I saw tears in Vick's eyes," says Hardiman. "You could see him struggling with the emotions when he talked to the kids. He told them what he did was something they shouldn't follow. These kids, some of them had never heard this message put the way he did."

Pacelle says his organization has lost over 1,000 members because of its new connection with Vick. Yet he remains undeterred. He notes that the Humane Society, like so many others of its kind, is largely white and middle class; that it hasn't done enough to include minority communities and the poor. Vick can help change that. Vick can help change a lot of things.

"The worst you can do is write somebody off completely for not exhibiting model behavior," says Pacelle. "If we just stick with people who are already sympathetic, what good are we doing?"

I agree. I've come to a new view. Sometimes it's too easy to condemn. If we refuse to have anything to do with Vick -- keeping him from the NFL and from well-connected organizations such as the Humane Society -- we lose the most powerful platform by which he can make amends. We weaken his chance to save the lives of fighting dogs and shape the lives of kids who've been abusing them.

Now it's up to Vick to stay true.

Organizers plan Vick ‘celebration’ in hometown

Event is meant to give city chance to ‘enjoy and embrace’ former convict

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Community organizers in Michael Vick’s Virginia hometown are preparing a “celebration” for the former NFL quarterback.

Andrew Shannon, who is president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference chapter in Vick’s hometown of Newport News, says the event is scheduled for Aug. 8. Vick will be in attendance and is scheduled to speak at the event, which Shannon says is geared toward promoting the doctrine of nonviolence.

One of the organizers, resident John Eley, says the “Michael Community Celebration” is intended to give the city a chance to “enjoy and embrace” Vick.

What has Muffy been doing? ‘Nobody knows,’ Australian official says

SYDNEY - Nine years after vanishing from outside her Australian family's home, Muffy the dog was found alive and well this month in another backyard — 1,200 miles away — officials said Thursday.

Inspectors with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were investigating a possible animal cruelty case at a home in the southern city of Melbourne two weeks ago when they found the fluffy white mutt sleeping outside on a scrap of cardboard, Victoria state RSPCA spokesman Tim Pilgrim said.

A microchip in Muffy's neck identified her owners, and, after a few days of searching for a current phone number, officials tracked down Natalie Lampard, who hadn't seen Muffy since the pooch disappeared from her backyard in the eastern city of Brisbane nine years ago.

"When the RSPCA described her, I told them her name; I knew immediately it was our Muffy," Lampard said. "It was totally out of the blue — after nine years, I thought she was long gone."

‘The mystery continues’
The owners of the Melbourne house where Muffy was discovered said they found the dog about a year ago wandering along a street, Pilgrim said. But where had Muffy spent the previous eight years? And how did she get all the way to Melbourne — about 1,200 miles from Brisbane?

"Nobody knows," Pilgrim said. "The mystery continues for old Muffy."

Muffy was suffering from a severe allergic reaction to fleas and has been under treatment since the RSPCA removed her from the Melbourne home, Pilgrim said. The dog, which the Lampards originally adopted from an RSPCA shelter near Brisbane, is recovering well and should be in good enough shape to fly back home on Tuesday, Pilgrim said.

Lampard got Muffy as a gift for her now 17-year-old daughter Chloe, and the two had been inseparable, Lampard said.

"After the RSPCA called, I rang my daughter and asked her if she was sitting down, then told her they'd found Muffy," Lampard said. "She's over the moon and there'll be a few tears shed when they see each other again. But just how she got down to Melbourne I guess is a mystery that will never be answered."

NEW YORK - Michael Vick is back in the NFL. Now all he needs is a team to play for.

Vick, free after serving 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, was reinstated with conditions by NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell on Monday. He could participate in regular-season games as early as October.

Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games — if he can find a team that will sign him. A number of teams have already said they would not.

Once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007 after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback admitted bankrolling a dogfighting operation on his property in Virginia. At the time, Goodell said Vick must show remorse before he would consider reinstating him.

“I accept that you are sincere when you say that you want to, and will, turn your life around, and that you intend to be a positive role model for others,” Goodell said in his letter to Vick. “I am prepared to offer you that opportunity. Whether you succeed is entirely in your hands.”

“Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited,” the letter said. “I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you and to dedicate yourself to rebuilding your life and your career. If you do this, the NFL will support you.”

Goodell said he spoke to numerous current and former players and coaches as he weighed his decision and that the responses were “very mixed.”

“I do recognize that some will never forgive him for what he did,” Goodell said. “I hope that the public will have a chance to understand his position as I have.”

Vick, once the highest-paid player in the league, said he was grateful for a second chance.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to commissioner Goodell for allowing me to be readmitted to the National Football League,” Vick said in a statement released by his agent, Joel Segal. “I fully understand that playing football in the NFL is a privilege, not a right, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given.

“As you can imagine, the last two years have given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the terrible mistakes I have made in the past and what type of life I must lead moving forward,” he said.

The announcement came after a busy first week of freedom for Vick, who met with union leaders and Goodell on consecutive days last week. His 23-month federal sentence ended when an electronic monitor was removed from his ankle on July 20 at his home in Hampton, Va.

He met with DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association, last Tuesday and, on Wednesday, he sat down with Goodell at a security firm in Allendale, N.J.

When Davon Boddie, Vick’s cousin, was arrested on drug charges, he gave Vick's property as his address. Surry County authorities searching the property found probable cause to obtain a second search warrant for animal cruelty/dogfighting. Police discovered:

approximately 54 dogs, mostly pitbulls, some with scars and injuries; most were underfed
about half of the dogs were chained to car axles and just out of reach of each other, a typical arrangement for fighting dogs
a blood-stained fighting area
animal training and breeding equipment, including a “rape stand”, a device in which a female dog who is too aggressive to submit to males for breeding is strapped down with her head in a restraint
a “break” or “parting” stick, used to pry open fighting dogs' mouths during fights
treadmills and “slat mills” used to condition fighting dogs
assorted paperwork documenting involvement in animal fighting ventures
performance-enhancing drugs commonly used to increase the fighting potential in dogs, as well as to keep injured dogs fighting longer.

According to multiple sources, the long-anticipated meeting between NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell and suspended quarterback Michael Vickk occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a small security firm in Allendale, N.J., where both men were seen leaving the premises separately.

Goodell earlier this week said he planned to rule on Vick's possible re-instatement to the NFL "sometime in the near future,'' but refused to specify any timetable. Both men were seen leaving the office of Buckley Petersen Global Inc. about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, one of the sources told SI.com. Multiple people in the surrounding area watched Vick and Goodell leave, the source said.

Contacted Thursday afternoon, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined to confirm or deny that Goodell and Vick met Wednesday saying, "We've been consistent about that throughout this process. We're not responding to any of the questions surrounding the review. Once a decision is made by the commissioner, then we'll make a statement.''

According to an eyewitness, Vick left the two-story office of Buckley Petersen Global Inc. first, hopping into a Cadillac Escalade with an entourage described as "huge.'' About 10 minutes later, Goodell was seen leaving the building and departing in a BMW that he was not driving. Vick was described as looking rather somber after the meeting, as was Goodell.

Vick served 23 months on a dogfighting conviction, but was released from home confinement on Monday, ending his sentence. With the majority of NFL training camps opening next week, Vick is hoping to have his league suspension lifted and then find a new team willing to sign him. But Goodell has said that before he made any decision regarding Vick's indefinite suspension, he wanted to meet with him and see remorse and evidence of change in his lifestyle and decision-making.

i am a serious NFL fan and will hate any team that gets him if he is re-instated. even my Buccaneers. i will disown them!

I got a very long e-mail explaining the trouble they are having with a new e-mail account. It is not transferring their mail to from the old one to the new one or something like that. I love this face- not because it is horribly mutilated- look at her eyes. take away the injuries and really just look at her eyes. such emotion- i cry pretty much every time i see them. I think she knows they are helping. my dream would be to meet her in person- silly, but it is the little things in life.

A horribly mutilated pit-bull, named Gypsy, was found on Monday morning, April 11, 2005 in Gaston County, North Carolina. She had been dumped on a main highway (Wilkinson Blvd) that connects Gaston County with Charlotte/Mecklenburg County. Her wounds appear to be the result of dogfighting. Her injuries were so severe, her right-front leg had to be amputated due to the extent of mutilation and infection. According to reports, the flesh on her face was literally rotting off, and when she first arrived at Tri-County Animal Rescue, her mouth was "nothing but pus". Tri-County Animal Rescue stated that the dog was "a bloody mess" when she was found on the roadside.

From the Tri-County website: "Gypsy had her leg amputated Monday the 18th 2005 and she is fighting for her life. Thanks to the skilled surgeons, Dr. McLean and Dr. Lowery at Eastridge Animal Hospital in Gastonia, and all the wonderful and loving vet techs at Eastridge who just go in and hold her paw or pat her or speak sweet kind words. It's amazing, but Cindy said she wagged her tail after surgery. Cindy and Dr. McLean say she hasn't given up and is fighting to stay with us.

Her will to live is intense... I think many humans don't have what she has.

I e-mailed the pit-bull rescue Monday. No answer. I e-mailed a "hey did u get my e-mail" and got a response right away. Then Wednesday night I think I e-mailed them back with the same content as the first. No response. I understand if they are busy, volunteer based- but come on we are trying to give them $100. I would be all over that if I had a rescue to run. They have till Saturday evening then I am looking for another pit-bull shelter/rescue. Am I being harsh?

So I have been thinking, that since this whole thing started with Vic the first donation should at least go towards some pit-bull rescue group. The next donation should be open for all shelters. I googled pit-bull rescue and came upon Missouri Pit Bull Rescue. well since I am from Missouri and all.... I think they would make a great first choice..

We are already $25 on our way to the next 100 smackers so a new choice will be soon I hope.!

I have contacted them and requested a pitiful case...get it pit-iful!!! whahaaa i crack myself up! no but really if you go to their site then you should see some dogs are sponsored. 7,400 dollars went to our local Humane Society & to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. The lady who bought the cards just happened to live in the same town. I never knew her before this auction. Laura Norton Dye though became a very good friend after the auction. She has since passed away after losing her fight with the cancer she had battled for over 15 years.

We had many copy-cat auctions. Some with good intentions and some with bad. I donated 100% of the final bid to the two shelters. This means to those who sell on ebay, I was stuck with fees from ebay, over 150 dollars. my contribution to my cause.

When Monte's photo made it on the front page of Yahoo. I almost cried. A friend called me and told me and I thought they were pulling my leg. It was insane to know this attention was out doing "vick's" name for a while.

AND CNN, Monte had no idea what was going on just thought it was cool to keep getting visitors and having his photo taken. His vet got an ink pad and printed off his photo and has his autograph hanging at her office.
